Kabul, April 28 (IANS) At least two Taliban militants and two policemen were killed when the rebels Saturday attacked the office of the governor of Kandahar province in Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.
The two gunmen broke into the governor's office compound around 11.20 a.m. But they were killed by police during a 20-minute exchange of fire, the provincial administration said.
All civilian employees at the governor's office were safe, it said.
Zulmai Ayubi, an official with the governor's office, told Xinhua two policemen were killed and two others injured in the attack.
"Kandahar provincial Governor Tooryali Wessa and other officials are safe and sound," he said.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
