'Speed roomating' could make living with strangers easier

New York, Apr 27 (ANI): An avant-garde online service organises free biweekly events to help connect those looking for roommates.

At the speed roommating party, people get an opportunity to meet some really nice people, who fit in your terms of housing.

Launched in London in 2004 and sponsored by the U.K.'s largest roommate service Spareroom.com, local organizer Josh Wellman has described the gatherings as a "new spin on speed dating," the New York Daily News reported.

However, these speed roommating parties - which are open to the public and offer one free drink - are more like traditional mixers.

Irrespective of battle-scared attendees who are given nametags at the registration desk that display whether they "have" a room or "need" one overwhelmingly insisted that the parties are a "welcome relief to the uncertainty of ads and expensive roommate services." (ANI)
