Close tie between Romney, Obama in Arizona, finds poll

Washington, Tue, 24 Apr 2012 ANI

Washington, April 24 (ANI): Almost 42 percent of people would prefer to vote for former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney over 40 percent for US President Barack Obama for presidential elections in Arizona, according to poll.

According to the Arizona pollster Bruce Merrill, 80 percent of Republicans said they would vote for Romney, while 78 percent of Democrats would choose Obama, the electorate is divided along party lines, The Politico reports.

Although the sample of political independents is small, 38 percent independents appeared to prefer to vote for Obama, whereas 28 percent preferred Romney.

Romney has an edge in Arizona given the state's GOP tilt.till, as long as Romney doesn't have the state completely locked down, there's going to be temptation there for Democrats who see Arizona moving their way demographically, and hope to speed up the process. (ANI)
