New Delhi, Apr 23 (ANI): Minister for State in Prime Minister's Office V. Narayanaswamy on Monday said government will soon table the anti-graft Lokpal bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Speaking to reporters, Narayanasamy said the differences had been narrowed down to five or six issues after consultations with various political parties.
"After discussions with the various political leaders, the difference of opinion has been narrowed down to five or six issues. We are engaging with various political leaders. We are trying to bring a consensus on the major issues. We will try to bring it before parliament. It is a government's priority," said Narayanasamy.
Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare had, last month, questioned the intention of the centre in passing the bill in the parliament, accusing them of betraying the public on the matter.
The Rajya Sabha broke up for recess on December 29, 2011 without voting on the bill to create a Lokpal before the deadline set by Anna Hazare, who led a campaign for the measure. It could not be passed in the Rajya Sabha on the last day of the session for want of time, as there were a lot of amendments.
The first phase of budget session too was not any difference as government was unable to build consensus on the matter. (ANI)
