New Delhi, Apr 19 (ANI): With just 100 days to go before the highly anticipated 2012 London Olympics, British High Commissioner to India James Bevan has said Britain is fully prepared to host competitors and guests at the sports extravaganza.
Highlighting the preparations being undertaken for the Games, Bevan remained resolutely upbeat about the London Olympics. Our message to the world is that Britain is ready, that India is welcome and that the Games are going to be great," Bevan said.
"I think it will be different. It will be different firstly, in that it will have the largest number of competitors from around the world that we have ever had in London. Secondly, because it will leave a tremendous legacy after the Games. The buildings that we have constructed, the stadiums we have built will be used by generations of British school children to improve their skills and it will be the greenest Olympics ever," he added.
Conveying his wishes to the Indian team participating in the Games, Bevan said: "I hope another way in which the games will be different is that India will do their very best that it ever has in any Olympic Games. I would like to send my very best wishes to the Indian team. We wish them every success in London."
The 2012 London Olympic Games will start on July 27 and will run until August 12. The Paralympic Games begin just a few weeks later on August 29, running until September 9.
These would be the third Games to be hosted by London following the 1908 and 1948 editions. (ANI)
