Itanagar, Apr 19 (ANI): Rajya Sabha member Mukut Mithi was today chosen as the President of Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).
Mithi was selected for the post by Congress President Sonia Gandhi thereby bringing an end to all speculations as to who would be the next to lead the party after sitting incumbent and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
"I've been assigned with a huge responsibility and discharge my duties to the best of my ability to strengthen the ruling Congress and work for the people of the state, particularly the rank and file of the party," Mithi told the Arunachal Front.
"I would assist the ruling government led by Chief minister Nabam Tuki to work with consensus considering the plural nature of this ethnic-rich state," he added.
Mithi, who hails from Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district, is a product of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur and a known sportsman with penchant for soccer, volley ball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, a voracious reader besides and a melodious singer.
He was the one to introduce Festival of Arunachal at Itanagar in 2003 as a platform for the people of multi-ethnic rich state to showcase their rich cultural mosaic to the rest of the world. (ANI)
