Port of Spain (West Indies), Apr 18(ANI): Nathan Lyon snapped up his second Test five-wicket haul of his international cricket career, as he helped Australia take full control of the second Test against West Indies at the Queens Park Oval in Trinidad on Tuesday.

The Test match at one stage was evenly poised with veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Narsingh Deonarine steering the Windies close to Australia's first innings score, but the wicket took a dramatic twist in the final session when Lyon claiming five wickets in nine overs.

Windies lost five wickets for19 runs in 12 overs, including four in a crushing 21 ball-burst from Lyon, which could end up costing them the match, and any hope of regaining the Frank Worrell Trophy.

They tottered to stumps on 9-252, still trailing by 59, and needing wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh to pay back the runs he gave away with his slapdash glove work.

Lyon finished the day with 5-68 from 29 overs, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The Windies could have found themselves in a far worse position if Australia had not allowed Chanderpaul to make another astral contribution.

Chanderpaul capitalized on the life he was granted when on eight to make a typically resilient 94 from almost five hours at the crease.

Lyon emerged from a 111-minute rain delay a completely transformed bowler, as he swiftly rediscovered his loop and drop, extracting phenomenal turn from the Queen's Park Oval pitch to destroy the Windies middle and lower order.

With the Windies only 81 behind, Lyon lured Deonarine down the pitch only to deceive him with flight and turn and leave him stranded as Wade whipped off the bails.

Five balls later he claimed the prized wicket of Chanderpaul, who was wrapped on the pad by one, which straightened, leaving the veteran six runs short of a well-deserved century. (ANI)
