Government trying to slap undue notices against us: Ramdev aide

Kanpur, Wed, 18 Apr 2012 ANI

Kanpur, Apr 18 (ANI): Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev's close aide Balkrishna has criticised the Central Government for slapping unnecessary notices and attempting to stall the fight against corruption.

Talking to media here, Balkrishna claimed the government is incessantly trying to work against Baba Ramdev's efforts.

"There is no doubt that we have often been targeted, and everyone is aware of this. Baba Ramdev talks about eradicating corruption from India and bringing back black money stashed in foreign accounts. However, efforts are being made to malign him. The government wants to stall our movement against corruption. It is only because the people believe in us and Baba Ramdev who believes in transparency that's why we are standing strong," he added.

Referring to Baba Ramdev's Ayurvedic brand Patanjali, Balkrishna described its operations as transparent and said he was ready to answer all queries posed by government agencies.

"We run a large organisation, and I assure you, that we follow all norms set by the government. We run a huge organization and chances are that there may be small clerical mistakes, but we have never indulged in any kind of tax evasion, and if, at any point, they suspect errors in our functioning and need answers, we are ready to face them, because we possess a clear conscience. We have never indulged in tax evasion and have always worked with absolute transparency. Reports that we have evaded tax are false and hold no substance," he added.

Baba Ramdev has often ridiculed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government over corruption and demanded that it should take steps to recover Indian money stashed abroad.

Balkrishna has also been accused of possessing a fake Indian passport. (ANI)
