Chandigarh, April 14 (IANS) Maximum temperatures at most places in Punjab and Haryana and Chandigarh dipped Saturday by five to nine degrees Celsius below average owing to overcast conditions and rain at some places during the past 24 hours, Met officials said.
Chandigarh, which had a cloudy sky since morning, received rain in the afternoon.
The maximum temperature in the city in the past 24 hours was 29.8 degrees Celsius, five degrees below average, a met official said here.
Hisar and Karnal towns in Haryana had respective highs of 28 and 26 degrees Celsius, both nine degrees below average. Rohtak town recorded a high of 29 degrees Celsius, seven degrees below average.
Hisar and Rohtak experienced showers in the past 24 hours.
Most places in Punjab had a cloud cover Saturday. Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius Saturday.
Met officials here said rain or thundershowers were expected at some places in Punjab and Haryana in the next two days.
