Islamabad, Apr 14(ANI): Jamiat Ulema-e- Islami F(JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has warned the Pakistan government against the re-opening of NATO supply routes, saying there would be no resumption through either the air or land route.
He rejected the claim that Parliament had paved the way for re-opening of NATO supply routes via Pakistan.
"The recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) forbid the use of Pakistan territory for all types of Nato supplies," The News quoted him, as saying.
He said the new recommendations had set the direction for Pakistan's foreign policy and the nature of Pak-US ties would now be quite different to that in the past.
"Pakistan is now no more any ally of the United States as it was after verbal agreements between the two countries," he said.
Rehman warned of dire consequences if the government did not adhere to the PCNS recommendations in re- engagement with the United States.
"Every new agreement will now be made according to clause no 8 of the recommendations and the government will have to face strong resistance if it tries to act otherwise," he added. (ANI)
