Los Angeles, April 12 (IANS) Actor Brad Pitt says he couldn't make it to the first squad in high school and formed his own basketball team with other rejects.
The 48-year-old star couldn't make it on to the first round at Cherokee Middle School in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri, in 1977.
Calling themselves the Cherokee Rejects, Brad, who was 14 that time, and his friends had their t-shirts emblazoned with the tongue-in-cheek name.
"We were the Cherokee Rejects. We didn't make the final cut for the eighth grade basketball team, so the five of us just decided to be the Cherokee Rejects. It was Brad's idea and he got his dad Bill to be our coach at the time," said a school friend of Pitt.
"Brad came up with the name - Cherokee Rejects. I don't think we really cared too much about losing out on the school team, we just thought it was funny," reports usmagazine.com
Another sport that Pitt couldn't excel in was baseball.
"It's shameful how little I know about baseball. Baseball and I didn't get along that well. I wrestled one year in high school. I dove one year. Everything but baseball," said Pitt.
