Shimla, April 11 (IANS) Re-polling will be held April 19 to elect the president of the Himachal Pradesh Indian Youth Congress (IYC) after the election of Union Minister Virbhadra Singh's son was declared null and void, an official statement said here Wednesday.
Vikramaditya Singh, 22, has been debarred from re-contesting the poll.
The Foundation for Advanced Management of Elections (FAME), authorised by the IYC and the National Students Union of India to conduct elections of both outfits, had in January declared Vikramaditya Singh's election null and void on the ground that there was no level playing field.
FAME also said it had received complaints from voters and candidates alleging serious violations in the November, 2011 elections, held through a secret ballot for the first time.
Vikramaditya Singh had polled 5,919 votes, while his nearest rival Raghubir Bali, son of former minister G.S. Bali, polled 2,434 votes. Incumbent Manmohan Katoch got only 457 votes.
The ballots cast in the re-poll will be counted April 21.
