Cairo, Apr 11 (ANI): Egypt's most influential political force, the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate has warned that the country may be ruled by a 'new Mubarak' if the ousted leader's former vice president Omar Suleiman wins the upcoming presidential elections.
Khairat al-Shater warned that the presidential race may be rigged and may lead to the election of a 'new Mubarak' which would spark a new revolution, Fox News reports.
According to the report, the entry of former intelligence chief Suleiman into the race has sparked fears that the generals are trying to ensure the presidency will go to an ally.
Meanwhile, Suleiman recently assured voters that he would not attempt to 'reinvent' the old regime of Mubarak if he is elected president of the country.
He stated that the uprising that toppled Mubarak nearly 14 months ago has created a "new reality that cannot be reversed". (ANI)
