Washington, Apr 10 (ANI): A cruise ship tracing the route of the Titanic and memorialising the ship's passengers has been delayed by strong winds and heavy seas just hours into the voyage.
The MS Balmoral, a luxury cruise liner operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, departed England on Sunday and was set to pick up passengers in France and Ireland before continuing to North America, where the doomed ship crashed into an iceberg and sank in 1912.
The strong gales on Monday prevented the Balmoral from docking in Cobh, Ireland.
The 45 mph winds and rough seas are keeping the boat at bay until early evening, according to the BBC.
The Balmoral is set to sail with the same number of passengers aboard as the Titanic had 100 years ago, and has taken its memorial voyage seriously, hosting passengers in early 1900s-era costumes, offering some of the same meals eaten by passengers on the Titanic, and planning memorial services along the route, ABC News reported.
The ship was expected to reach New York in 10 days but it remains unclear whether that arrival date has changed. (ANI)
