Moscow, April 10 (IANS/RIA Novosti) A man in Russia's eastern city of Vladivostok has been found with a radioactive car. A court Tuesday ordered him to remove it from the country.
"A second-hand Honda Fit was brought to Russia from Japan through the sea port of Vladivostok in November 2011. An inspection uncovered levels of radioactive emissions that were far higher than the acceptable level and ordered that the car either be cleaned up or removed from Russia," the regional prosecutor's office said.
Radioactive cars and spare parts have on many occasions been brought to Russia from Japan following the accident at the Fukusima nuclear power plant in March 2011.
A magnitude-9 earthquake and an ensuing tsunami led to malfunctioning and subsequent meltdown in the nuclear reactors at the Fukushima plant.
