London, Mar 31(ANI): England fast bowler is on verge of missing out the lucrative Indian Premier League for a second consecutive year after flying back home from Sri Lanka to have calf strain assessed.
Broad has also been ruled out of the second Test match against Sri Lanka in Colombo, starting on April 3.
He could miss playing in the IPL for Kings XI Punjab, like he did in 2011 due to a side strain.
Kings XI Punjab bought him for 250,000 pounds at a 2011 auction, but final salaries are based on availability, and he would collect about 140,000 pounds. Broad missed the tournament last year because of a side strain
Broad was earlier due to fly with Kevin Pietersen to the IPL for a four-week stint as soon as the second Test got over.
A disenchanted Broad used his official Twitter account to air his opinion about his latest predicament.
"Annoyed to be going home a week early. Not a major injury, just couldn't get through a whole Test match," The Sun quoted Broad's tweet.
In his absence, Steven Finn will return for the Second Test with Tim Bresnan also likely to play at the expense of Samit Patel or Monty Panesar. (ANI)
