New Delhi, April 8 (IANS) The Spice Board of India will set up 10 parks at different places across the country this year, investing Rs.167 crore, to benefit producers and exporters.
"A total of Rs.167 core are earmarked to invest in the spices parks. Out of which Rs.75 crore are already invested in three completed spices parks in Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh), Puttady (Kerala) and Jodhpur (Rajasthan)," the board said in a statement Sunday.
"The other parks will be completed during the year in states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan," the board run by the commerce ministry added.
The parks will have warehousing, processing, packaging and certification facilities for the spices.
The Jodhpur park for processing seed spices like cumin, coriander and fennel was inaugurated Saturday in the presence of Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
