JuD- backed Difa-e-Pakistan Council warns Zardari not to visit India

Lahore, Fri, 06 Apr 2012 ANI

Lahore, Apr 6(ANI): The Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) has called on Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari to cancel his trip to India, and warned that it will protest against the issue.

The council said Zardari is visiting India despite the latter refusing to send its hockey team to play in Pakistan, the Express Tribune reports.

Zardari plans to meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over lunch on April 8 before making a private visit to the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer.

DPC leaders also claimed that the United States had announced a 10 million dollar bounty on Jamad-ud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed's head to escalate pressure on Pakistan to re-open the NATO supply routes that were shut following the deadly November 26, 2011 raid.

They announced that they are likely to move international courts on the issue, but will first approach local courts and described the act as an interference in Pakistan's internal affairs.

"Hafiz Saeed and Abdul Rehman Makki are citizens of Pakistan, their protection is the government's responsibility," they added.

DPC leaders also criticized the US for carrying out drone attacks and Abbottabad-style raids in Pakistan, which they perceived as a move to appease India and Israel. (ANI)
