Moscow, April 3 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Three people who cleared land mines and worked for a British-American humanitarian group have been abducted in Afghanistan, Kabul-based Bahtar news agency reported.
The men from HALO Trust, whose nationalities were not known, were clearing mines in Herat province, which borders Iran.
They were reportedly attacked by a group of armed assailants as they were returning from work Monday.
The men radioed their headquarters as they were abducted. All contact with them has been lost since then.
The HALO Trust is a non-political, non-religious NGO, registered in Britain as a charity and in the US as a non-profit organisation.
The trust specialises in the removal of the hazardous debris of war and has been operating for more than two decades all over the world.
