Dharamsala, Apr 1 (ANI): Tibetans living in-exile in Himachal Pradesh's Dharamsala region mourned over the recent incidents of self-immolation by fellow nationals in their homeland.
Expressing solidarity with the deceased, Yangzom, spokesperson of Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) said that such incidents reflect the plight of the Tibetans in their homeland.
"We feel sad but at the same time we feel great respect for those who self immolate themselves and we are very much encouraged that the Tibetan struggle is going on and it will move till many-many more years hundreds and thousands till Tibet gain independence," said Yangzom.
She further said that Tibetans feel throttled by the repressing Chinese rule and demanded for United Nation's intervention in their struggle for freedom.
"All the Tibetan people inside Tibet are very much under the pressure of the Chinese regime policies and they are completely against that. So, that is why this is the last thing that they can protest to get the international world support," added Yangzom.
Tenzin Choki, General Secretary of TYC, said that it is the most unfortunate thing that Tibetans had to resort to the ultimate form of non-violent protest.
"Tenpa Dargey and Chimey Palden were both in their early twenties. Most of the self-immolators have been of very young age. The reason behind is very very clear. It's a very clear message to China that Chinese occupation will not last and the Tibetan people will continue to protest in whatever way and form," said Tenzin Choki.
Earlier on March 26, in a similar incident, 27-year-old Jamshel Yeshi set himself ablaze in New Delhi during an anti-Chinese rally and succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital two days later.
The rally was staged to protest against Chinese Premier Hu Jintao's visit to New Delhi for a summit of emerging market nations - BRICS. (ANI)
