New Delhi, March 27 (IANS) Union minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah Tuesday vowed to quit politics if graft charges against him in the alleged money laundering scam in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) were proved.
'I want to tell the house that if the charges are proved against me I will quit politics,' Abdullah said in his short intervention during a debate on social activist Anna Hazare and his team members' alleged derogatory remarks against parliamentarians.
Abdullah's name has been mentioned in an alleged multi-crore-rupee scam in JKCA, of which he is the president.
Kashmir opposition parties have alleged the connivance of Abdullah and JKCA chairman Mohammad Aslam Goni, who is the party president's political advisor, in the scam.
An FIR was lodged against two close confidants of Abdullah - Saleem Khan and Ahsan Ahmad Mirza - to probe charges of misappropriation of funds.
