Dehradun, Mar.26 (ANI): The Congress Government in Uttarakhand won its first trial of strength on Monday with Govind Singh Kunjwal, a close confidant of Union Minister of State Harish Rawat, being elected as speaker of the Uttarakhand assembly.
Kunjwal was fielded against BJP MLA Harbans Kapoor for the post.
It was the first time that elections for the post of speaker were held in the 12-year-old hill state. (ANI)
