Islamabad, Mar 26 (ANI): Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik reportedly appeared before the judicial commission probing the Memo Gate scandal on Monday as the commission resumed its proceedings.
Malik, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), came to Islamabad to clear allegations made against him by Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz, the key man in the Memo Gate scandal.
Ijaz had alleged that Malik had arranged his meeting with Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief. In response to the allegations, Malik had requested the Supreme Court to make him a party to the case.
Malik said earlier today that he had come to the commission personally and had not hired any lawyer as there is "no need to lie".
"I don't want a lawyer who would do his job of turning lies into truth and truth into lies. God willingly, truth will prevail," The Express Tribune quoted him, as saying.
Former Paistan ambassador to US Husain Haqqani did not appear before the commission today, as he had earlier announced, over fears of death threats in Islamabad.
Haqqani had earlier submitted an application in the commission to have his statement recorded abroad via video link, as was done in the case of Ijaz. (ANI)
