Anna Hazare ends one day token fast, tells UPA govt. to bring Lokpal or get thrown out of power

New Delhi, Sun, 25 Mar 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare ended his one-day token fast on Sunday evening threatening UPA-II Government to either bring the Jan Lokpal bill or get thrown out of power.

Indicating towards the 2014 General elections, Hazare said: "The government's intention is not clear in removing corruption out of this country that is why it is not bring the Jan Lokpal bill. But now that you all, the people of the nation, are standing along side me, we will make sure that Jan Lokpal bill is introduced for sure. And if not now or later, then 2014 elections are there, either bring the (Jan) Lokpal bill or get out".

The Sunday's fast comes two days after an inconclusive all party meeting on the Lokpal Bill at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's official 7, Race Course Road residence.

This was the first hunger strike undertaken by 74-year-old Hazare after he called off his three-day fast for a strong Lokpal Bill in Mumbai last December owing to failing health.

Anna's aide Arvind Kejriwal had earlier in the day released a list of 14 cabinet ministers who, he claimed, would come under investigations once the Jan Lokpal Bill was passed. (ANI)
