New Delhi, March 24 (IANS) A man, who pretended to be a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) in Uttar Pradesh and cheated several innocent youths by promising them government jobs has been arrested from east Delhi, police said Saturday.
Ashwani Kumar, resident of West Vinod Nagar area, was arrested from his house Friday.
Kumar,who hailed from Madhubani in Bihar, told people that he is posted as DSP in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj and promised youth in Delhi and other places that he could get them government jobs especially in police as he has good contacts in state polices of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
A Uttar Pradesh Police uniform, a fake visiting card, a fake driving license of Punjab and six SIM cards were recovered from his possession.
Kumar was arrested on a complaint registered by a victim Vinay, who was cheated worth Rs 4 lakh on pretext of getting him a job in Himachal Pradesh Police, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma.
