Maoists damage bridge, building and torch trucks in Bihar district

Patna, Fri, 23 Mar 2012 ANI

Patna, Mar.23 (ANI): Police officials in Bihar on Friday confirmed that a bridge and an office had been blown up by Maoists in the state's Jamui district.

They also said that six trucks had been set on fire during a two-day strike to protest the arrest of top Maoists leaders.

About 100 armed Maoists reportedly attacked the Khaira block office in Jamui, which is about 300 kilometers from Patna.

Police said that the Maoists used dynamite to destroy the Khaira block office building. The rebels also destroyed paddy crops in the vicinity.

The six trucks were burnt in a separate incident, as also the explosion of the bridge.

Before escaping into the nearby forests, the Maoists warned the local administration to stop combing operations against them via posters.

Earlier in the week, a railway track was blown up, while two mobile phone towers, a tractor and four vehicles were torched in Jamui and Banka districts. (ANI)
