Washington, March 10 (ANI): Two US women discovered they were married to the same man when Facebook suggested them "friend" each other, according to court documents.
Corrections officer, and alleged bigamist, Alan L. O'Neill is now facing bigamy charges in a Pierce County court in Washington state. If convicted he faces up to a year in jail.
O'Neill's wife No.1 discover a picture of him and his second wife standing in front of a wedding cake when she clicked on a link to his new partner's Facebook page, LA Times reported.
O'Neill, who used to be known as Alan Faulk, married his first wife in 2001. He moved out in 2009, but neither he nor his first wife ever filed for divorce, according to court documents cited by a foreign news agency.
Then, in December 2009, Faulk changed his name to Alan L. O'Neill and a few weeks later married wife No. 2.
The first wife was apparently totally in the dark about Faulk/O'Neill's second marriage until Facebook listed wife No. 2 under the "People You May Know" feature.
Wife No. 1 clicked through to wife No. 2's Facebook page, and that's where she saw the telltale cake picture.
O'Neill's first wife confronted him about the second marriage.
Court documents say he acknowledged that he was in two marriages and asked her not to tell the authorities until he was able to fix the situation.
But she did tell the authorities and now O'Neill is due in court later this month. (ANI)
