Bernard Tomic's model girlfriend confirms break up

Melbourne, Mar 10 (ANI): Bernard Tomic's model girlfriend Donay Meijer has confirmed that she and the tennis star have split, just weeks after going public at the Australian Open.

The blonde beauty said that she was a "bigger person" and is getting on with her own life.

"It has all been a bit crazy but all I have to say in regards to it is we have gone our separate ways and I wish him all the best," the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.

The Gold Coast model and pharmacology student was asked how she was coping with the break up.

"I'm a bigger person, I'm just going to leave it there," she replied.

She fulfilled her commitments to L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival sponsor Lavazza by attending the event on Friday night despite her private heartbreak.

Tomic, 19, revealed from the US on Wednesday that he and Meijer split "four or five days ago", but sources close to her said that the relationship ended abruptly that same day.

The tennis ace claims that he was "clueless" about Meijer's invitation to the fashion festival, despite texting each other during a fashion shoot in Melbourne on Tuesday.

Meijer had made headlines in January when she sat courtside throughout Tomic's Australian Open crusade.

Tomic said this week that tennis was his main focus.

"I'm focusing on my tennis and I wish her the best. We are no longer together.

"She has her plans and career in modelling to worry about and I have to focus on my tennis," he said. (ANI)
