Dehradun, Mar 10 (ANI): Union Health Minister and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad arrived here on Saturday to build consensus over the selection of head of the Congress Legislature Party in the state.
Azad, while addressing mediapersons here, said the newly elected legislators of the party wanted Sonia Gandhi to name the leader of the Uttrakhand Congress Legislature Party.
"All the legislators have unanimously decided to leave the decision of selecting the leader of the House on the head of the Congress party, but she wants that before taking a decision, the views of the legislators must be taken into consideration and know what they think," he said.
In a close contest, Congress party won 32 seats, one more than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 70-member Uttrakhand assembly.
The party claimed the support of three independent candidates and one member from the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) and was able to avoid a hung assembly by crossing the half-way mark of 35 seats.
