Los Angeles, Mar 8(ANI): President Barack Obama campaign's senior strategist David Axelrod has said GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney is heading on a death march to nomination due to the persistent negativity of the Republican campaign.
Axelrod believes Romney and the other presidential candidate Rick Santorum are tearing each other apart during their current campaign, and this is going to work in Obama's favour during the presidential elections.
"We're using this time to build while they're destroying each other," The Los Angeles Times quoted Axelrod, as saying.
Romney and his supporters are spending millions on attack advertisements against Santorum most recently, and previously against others who have threatened his campaign.
"He's continuing to grind out a kind of tactical victory in a ... death march," Axelrod said.
Front-runner Romney walked away with the most victories and delegates, but it was not a clean win, with the former Massachusetts governor barely beating rival Rick Santorum in Ohio despite spending millions of dollars more. (ANI)
