Chennai, Mar 8 (ANI): Congress on Thursday dismissed speculations over occurrence of mid-term polls after the party dismal party's performance the recently concluded assembly polls.
Union Environment Minister Jayanti Natarajan, at a sideline of an event here, told reporters that the Congress has good relations with its allies and the government will last its full term.
"We have good relations with our allies. Our Congress president has already said that we will continue to engage with our allies. And this government will last its full term," said Natarajan.
She further said the parties who have been elected in the assembly polls should focus on governing their respective state and not try to destabilize the central government.
"Those who have elected in the various states, they should concentrate upon good governance in those states rather than trying do destabilizing the central government," she added.
The issue gathered storm after Union Minister of Railways and Trinmool Congress (TMC) leader Dinesh Trivedi on Wednesday said that if there was an anti-Congress wave in the country and the Samajwadi Party and the BJP wanted an early poll then Congress should understand.
His statement had sent tremors across the Congress party. (ANI)
