'Poll results very hopeful for BJP': Shahnawaz Hussain

Bhagalpur, Tue, 06 Mar 2012 ANI

Bhagalpur, Mar 6 (ANI): With latest trends showing improved performance in the current elections by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, senior party leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Tuesday said the reports that have been coming from the various states appear to be very hopeful, and added that the hard work put in has been given due recognition.

""It is very early trend now. I will not be able to give any response or reaction. But it appears that our hard work in Uttar Pradesh has been successful. The reports that have been coming from the various states appear to be very hopeful for the Bharatiya Janata Party," said Hussain.

"And we expect that the trends in Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand will go in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the party is also performing well in Uttar Pradesh. We are waiting for the verdict. Those, who were judging the Bharatiya Janata Party to be a very small player, they should now re-evalaue their calculations," he added.

Hussain also took a dig at Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who earlier in the day said that she would take responsibility for the poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh.

The BJP is so far leading in 58 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, 28 assembly seats in Uttarakhand, seven assembly seats in Goa and 62 assembly seats in Punjab along with its ally the Shiromani Akal Dal (SAD). (ANI)
