Islamabad, Mar 6 (ANI): Punjab Police have opposed the registration of a second FIR in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case.
A three-member Supreme Court (SC) bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on Monday heard a petition seeking registration of another FIR in the case. Chaudhry Aslam Advocate, former chief protocol officer of Benazir Bhutto, had filed the petition, saying that the first FIR did not mention the names of "real culprits" in the case.
In his reply, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar said the petition was not maintainable, as the petitioner was not an aggrieved person in the case, the Daily Times reports.
Meanwhile, the court re-issued notices to the respondents, including former president Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf, former law minister Babar Awan, former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, and asked them to submit their replies with regards to the plea seeking registration of another FIR.
The court also directed Islamabad Police to display the notice outside Musharraf's home, further directing the registrar's office to ensure delivery of notices to all respondents. (ANI)
