Lucknow, Mar 5 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav on Monday expressed confidence that his party will get majority on its own and may not need any party's support to form a government.
"Samajwadi Party will get majority and form its Government in Uttar Pradesh," Yadav told media here.
He also said his father would be the chief minister in case the party gets to form the government.
"Everybody wants Netaji (Mulayam Singh) to be the chief minister, so he would be the chief minister if we form the government," he added.
He also thanked party workers for their hard work during the elections.
"I want to thank you. You helped us in campaigning. With your help we have been able to do campaigning. We were continuously struggling. We were baton charged and abused," he added.
The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.
The first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh phases of polling occurred on February 8, 11, 15, 19, 23, 28 respectively and March 3.
The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
