People of UP have outrightly rejected Congress: BJP(Lead: Shahnawaz)

Bhagalpur, Mar 5 (ANI): With barely few hours left for the electoral verdict in Uttar Pradesh, an extremely confident Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said the Congress Party's dream of forming the next government in the state would not be fulfilled.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said he was confident that his party would emerge victorious in Uttar Pradesh, and added that the Congress Party had now become restless to enter into an alliance with BSP or Samajwadi Party (SP).

"People of Uttar Pradesh have out rightly rejected the Congress party. The Congress is not going to gain anything from these elections and their leaders have already started finding ways to come to power. No matter how much they try to come into power and their leaders such as Beni Prasad Verma praise Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) or they get Babu Singh Kushwaha arrested, be it anything they will not be able to form government," said Hussain.

"Congress at present is very restless to enter into an alliance with BSP or Samajwadi Party (SP). They fought the elections against SP and BSP however they have started exploring the possibilities before the declaration of the results. In Uttar Pradesh the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will emerge as the largest party and Congress party's dream to form the government will not be fulfilled," he added.

Hussain lashed out at the Congress Party, as it mulls over the prospect of imposing president's rule in the state.

"The Congress's dream to govern the state by imposing the president rule will not be fulfilled. They are getting restless since they have not been in power for quite some time. They tried to raise the issue of corruption during the election however as the elections concluded they are looking forward to ally with the BSP," he said.

The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.

The first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh phases of polling occurred on February 8, 11, 15, 19, 23, 28 respectively and March 3.

The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
