Lucknow, Mar 4 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kalraj Mishra on Sunday said the BJP would prefer to sit in the opposition if it failed to gain majority in Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
"If Bharatiya Janata Party is able to win the needed seats to form the government then we will come in power else we will sit in the opposition. Since our party has a parliamentary set up, our senior leaders will decide the name of the chief minister after the results of the assembly polls are out," said Mishra.
Mishra also expressed his disbelief over the credibility of exit poll results.
"We cannot rely on the exit poll results until the results come out. We cannot rely on the triangular results of the exit polls. I do not believe on the results of exit polls which have come out till now," said Mishra.
The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.
A new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March.
The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
