Melbourne, Mar 4(ANI): Former Australian cricketer has reckoned that Indian batsman Virat Kohli should bat at No. 3 in one- day cricket, but at No.4 or 5 in Tests, because he still needs to work on the defensive side of his game.
His statement came after Kohli had smashed 133 off 86 balls to help India chase down Sri Lanka's total of 320 in 36.4 overs a couple of days ago.
Referring to an incident of a Pakistani citizen being detained in Dhaka and his phone confiscated in connection with the spot-fixing scam, Jones said it was a bizarre development.
"Before the tournament, I was blown away when I heard that Bangladeshi player Mashrafe Mortaza had reported to his franchise that a fellow cricketer approached him for opportunities in "spot-fixing". The International Cricket Council and BPL wanted to put Mortaza on report on the grounds that he approached the media first and not the authorities. Surely he is the victim here? We await those findings," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Jones, as saying.
He also referred to the controversy of the Chittagong Kings threatening to pull out of the next edition of the BPL because they were replaced in the semi-finals of this year's tournament hours after being officially deemed to have qualified.
He however, said he was impressed with the BPL standards and added that the anti-corruption squad was very vigilant in ensuring strict checks. (ANI)
