Demand of Chinese water toy guns increase ahead of Holi

Gorakhpur, Mar 4 (ANI): As the festival of colours, Holi is round the corner the demand for Chinese water toy guns has increased in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur town.

Local markets were seen flooded with different varieties of water toy guns.

Ishwar Kumar, a resident, told reporters that people preferred buying Chinese water toy guns, as they are more attractive and durable as compared to the Indian toy guns.

"The Chinese water toy guns have more finishing and the Indian water toy guns are comparatively costlier and are not sold to a great extent. The Chinese water toy guns are cheaper and people love buying them. They come in different shapes. Very few Indian water toy guns can be seen in the markets and the cost is also very high, due to which people hesitate buying them," said Kumar.

In recent years, Chinese made products have been in great demand as it uses Indo-Nepal route to dump its cheap and durable products in India.

"The Chinese products are cheaper. The price of a dozen water toy guns would cost rupees 120 whereas the Indian made water toy guns would cost rupees 150.The finishing of the products are comparatively better and the pressure of water thrown is also fine as compared to Indian water toy guns because the Indian use local materials whereas the Chinese use quality materials," said another resident, Shashwat Kumar.

Despite the territorial problems, trade ties between two of the fastest growing economies are booming, with both countries setting an ambitious 100 billion US dollar target for bilateral trade by 2015 from the current 74 billion US dollars.

Holi is celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm across the country for at least two days.
