Ghatbera, Mar 2 (ANI): The kin of a victim killed by the Maoists last year in Purulia are yet to get the complete monetary compensation promised by the West Bengal government.
The parents of Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker Jitu Sinh from Ghatbera village in West Bengal's Purulia District expressed their anguish, as their woes have not been completely addressed by the state government.
Suspected Maoist militants killed Jitu in November last year.
Jitu's mother Kulada said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced a monthly pension of rupees 2000 for them, but they have not received the full amount till now.
"Didi (Banerjee) had promised to give us 2000 rupees per month. We have not received that yet. We had earlier received only 800 rupees before the Durga Puja. We have not received the remaining amount," she said.
Jitu's brother Budhu said that the local politicians and leaders failed to help them.e said that the postal department was responsible for the delay in the payment of the pension.
The family is facing a financial crunch at present, but are hopeful that the full amount will be credited soon.
Despite strong measures initiated by the central government to crush the ultras, the Maoist insurgency has gripped nearly a third of the country in its violent tentacles, spreading into the interiors of 20 of India's 28 states. (ANI)
