Bangalore, Mar 2 (ANI): Journalists in Bangalore staged a sit-in-protest on Friday after being attacked by lawyers outside a city court, and sought justice from the Karnataka Government on the unfortunate incident.
The clash broke out after lawyers attempted to stop the journalists from entering the court complex earlier in the day.
The lawyers were reportedly upset with the media after it questioned a road blockade by protesting lawyers in January in Mysore city.
Narendra, a journalist, said the lawyers were acting out in revenge over the incident.
"We came here to report on Janardhan Reddy. All the crime reporters are present here. The lawyers beat us because they were taking revenge for a fight that happened few days ago in Mysore. They attacked our OB (outside broadcast) vans and reporters and camerapersons," Narendra said.
"The CM will have to come here for us. Karnataka's Law Minister S Suresh Kumar and the Home Minister will have to come here. This court complex is not private property, but public property. We want justice," he added, while demanding justice from Karnataka Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda on the issue.
Lawyers attacked mediapersons with stones and had to be dispersed with tear gas outside the city civil court in Bangalore today.
Media persons were present outside the court, as former Karnataka tourism minister and mining baron G Janardhan Reddy was produced before a special CBI court today. (ANI)
