Counterfeit 'Apple iphone' branded gas stoves confiscated in China

Beijing , Tue, 28 Feb 2012 ANI

Beijing, Feb 28 (ANI): A Chinese company is making one-burner gas stoves with the iconic Apple logo and a label that says "iphone."

Chinese officials confiscated nearly 700 stoves branded with Apple's trademark logo from two warehouses in Wuhan, a city in the Hubei province in Southeast China.

Photographs circulating around the Internet show a green sticker affixed to the simple stove top having an image of Apple's half bitten apple, and bears the word 'iPhone.'

According to The Los Angeles Times, the small gas stoves were confiscated because they were deemed unsafe, rather than for ripping off the Apple logo.

The iPhone stove is just the latest in a series of examples of Chinese entrepreneurs' experiments in counterfeit Apple products.

In August 2011, an American blogger living in China exposed an entire fake Apple store in the city of Kunming.

The store looked like an Apple Store having blond wood and workers in blue T-shirts.

Later it emerged that there were at least 25 more fake Apple stores in Yunnan province alone. (ANI)
