Kejriwal's remark against MPs in context of Congress, alleges BJP

New Delhi, Mon, 27 Feb 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Feb 27 (ANI): Lauding the recent statement made by Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal against the Members of Parliament, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday alleged that the former's comment was against the Congress-led UPA Government as the public had lost faith and respect for them.

"The first thing that needs to be considered is that in what context Arvind Kejriwal made this statement. Over the past seven years, the way the UPA has been working is extremely disappointing, not only for Kejriwal but for the people of the entire country, which has made people think about the poor functioning of the government and they have lost their faith in the Congress Party," said BJP spokesperson J P Nadda.

"The Congress Party is not only playing witness to all the scams, but it is also encouraging them and that is why people have lost their faith in the government and politics. The UPA is working in an unsatisfactory way. The job of the Law Minister is to provide law and order but he violates the law everyday," he added, while taking a dig at Union Law and Justice Minister Salman Khurshid.

Congress spokesperson Renuka Chaudhary, however, refused to comment in response, but said that Kejriwal should consider his own actions before giving opinion on others.

"Who is he? And we have nothing to do with whatever he is implying, why didn't he involve those people who don't pay income tax? Such people should also be involved in this and he himself has done it, he didn't pay the tax and I will not bother to answer. Let him say whatever he wants to, we have nothing to do with what he is trying to say," said Chaudhary.

Kejriwal had, however, earlier in the day brushed aside claims of his campaign being motivated to target the ruling Congress Party.

Addressing a gathering in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida city on Saturday, Kejriwal said: "All types of elements have entered Parliament, including 'robbers, murderers and rapists'. Parliament has become the biggest problem of the country. It is now essential to change its character."

Terming the ongoing probe against corrupt politicians as a mere drama, Kejriwal said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has become a tool in the hands of the ruling UPA Government.

"Suresh Kalmadi, A. Raja and Kanimozhi are sent to jail for just a few days and come out very quickly," he said. (ANI)
