Samastipur, Mon, 27 Feb 2012 ANI

Samastipur/Noida/Agra, Feb 27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain has accused the Congress party of indulging in high level corruption and for facilitating scams worth billions in the country.

"The Congress party has indulged in high level corruption. They have facilitated scams worth 1.76 trillion and 700 billion in the telecom and Commonwealth Games. They have been indulging in high level scams and they are continuing to do so. The country awaits more scams, I guess," Hussain told media in Samastipur.

Meanwhile, hitting hard at Congress President Sonia Gandhi, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari has said Sonia has traits of a dictator and people in her party work as her slaves.

"The Congress party is a mother-son party. They act and react according to her (Sonia Gandhi) will," he added.

He further said that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed rampant loot in the rules of Congress, BSP and the SP with the state's population battling hunger and law and order problems.

BJP ideologue Sudheendra Kulkarni said that his party offered a constructive alternative to the current ill governed state of Uttar Pradesh.

"The people of this state want freedom from the governance of Bahujan Samaj Party but they are also looking for a constructive alternative. This alternative cannot be the hooliganism of Samajwadi Party or the corruption-ridden governance of the Congress Party. This alternative can only be the BJP," Kulkarni said in Agra.

"I have toured the state in the last year-and-a-half and I think that people of the state admire our party and there is an undercurrent of support for our party. The BJP would definitely come to power and we are confident of it," he added.

The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state. new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
