Vrindavan, Feb 25 (ANI): Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal on Saturday said he would abide and duly respond to the Election Commission directive issued to him over his President's rule remark.
While talking to mediapersons here, Jaiswal said he had not made any mistake and said nothing wrong.
"I respect the Election Commission's directive. I will duly send my reply to the notice of the Election Commission. I did not make any mistake and there was nothing wrong I had said," said Jaiswal.
He further said that media is not complete picture only highlighting his remark on the topic.
"The media is only showing my statement, but not the question that was asked from me. When you listen to the question put before me, you would understand that what I had said was not wrong. However, I would personally present the question and answer to the Election Commission," he added.
A few days ago, Jaiswal had claimed that if the Congress party did not get a clear majority in the Uttar Pradesh polls, president's rule would be implemented in the state.
The remark had triggered howls of protest from opposition parties, forcing the EC to slap a notice on Jaiswal, seeking his response on the row.
The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.
A new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
