Saif Ali Khan granted bail in assault case

Mumbai, Feb 22 (ANI): Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting an NRI businessman over a heated argument at a luxury hotel here last night, has been granted bail.

Saif was earlier arrested at his lawyer's chamber in south Mumbai's Nariman Point and then taken to the Colaba police station.

Iqbal Sharma, a South African businessman of Indian origin, had registered a case actor the actor at the Colaba Police Station. Sharma in his complaint claimed that Saif assaulted him and fractured his nose at Wasabi, a restaurant at the fancy Taj hotel, last night.

According to the complainant, Saif and those accompanying him were talking loudly while seated at an adjacent table.

When Sharma walked up to them and objected to their talking loudly, an argument ensued leading to a brawl during which he was assaulted by Saif, leaving him with a bleeding and fractured nose.

Khan was reportedly accompanied by girlfriend and actress Kareena Kapoor at the time of the incident.

Saif Ali Khan's home production Agent Vinod is due to release on March 23 and features Kareena in the lead with him. (ANI)
