Firozabad/Bulandshaha, Feb 22 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has vowed to eliminate hooliganism from Uttar Pradesh.
"Our party, the Samajwadi Party, vows to eradicate hooliganism from the state if brought to power. All culprits will be sent to prison. If someone from our party commits any act of violence, I will make sure that strict action is taken against them," Singh told a gathering in Firozabad.
Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said until and unless the youth of the state are employed, he will not back off from Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing a mass rally in Bulandshahar, Gandhi said: "I do not care about what certain sections of the political fraternity think about me. If they think that this is staged then let it be, I do not really care and would do it for the rest of my life. I am here to fight for the people of the state and not to make false promises like other parties. I have a clear conscience."
The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state. new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
