Samajwadi leader Akhilesh Yadav slams Mayawati over rampant crime in UP

Kanpur/Moradabad, Feb 20 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav has slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati over the rampant crime and corruption rate in the state.

 

Addressing a public rally in Kanpur, Yadav said the Bahujan Samaj Party's exit would be beneficial for the people of Uttar Pradesh.

 

"The Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party shouldn't come to power in the state. As far as the Bahujan Samaj Party is concerned, they have indulged in high-level corruption in the state and do not deserve to govern it any longer. Every person in the state wants the same. This government has facilitated corruption and crime in the state and has maligned Uttar Pradesh' image," Yadav added.

 

Echoing similar views, senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said Mayawati would be trounced in the polls.

 

"Mayawati seems to be already disappointed over the reaction and treatment she is receiving from the people of the state. Her party would suffer a massive defeat in the elections along with the Congress party and Samajwadi Party," Naqvi said in Moradabad.he Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major political parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state. new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
