Prospect of any post-poll alliance with SP premature: Renuka Chaudhary

New Delhi/ Hamirpur/, Feb 16 (ANI): Congress leader Renuka Chaudharyas said that the prospect of any post-poll alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) is premature, as polling in Uttar Pradesh is still on.

"I don't think we know who the A-team as yet so these premature conclusions. There has been no pre-poll alliance tie-up and we haven't yet arrived on a post-poll scenario. Since the elections are on midway I don't think it is right for us to comment on this honestly," Chaudhary told the media here.

I think the best person to answer this would be SP chief Mulayam Singh himself. We have gone to poll and we have many fields to finish so we will wait and watch," she added.

Chaudhary's remarks come after Mulayam Singh Yadav exuded alliance possibility with Congress.

Addressing a gathering in Hamirpur, Yadav said that the chances of forming alliance with Congress is possible only if BJP gains majority in Uttar Pradesh state, else SP will not support Congress.

"As far as the BJP and Congress are concerned, if BJP comes in majority then we will support Congress, else we are not going to support Congress party," he added.

The Uttar Pradesh polls are being viewed as an opportunity for major parties to re-establish their foothold in the country's fifth largest and most populous state.

A new 403-member state assembly will be elected in March. The poll results will broadly indicate trends for the 2014 general elections. (ANI)
