Islamabad, Feb 14 (ANI): Pakistan's High Commissioner to the UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan has said that all preparations have been made for recording Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz's statements on February 17 over the Memo Gate issue.
The Express Tribune quoted Hasan, as saying that the secretary of the commission will be travelling to England on February 17, and will subsequently record Ijaz's statement on the scheduled date and time.
A high-powered commission comprising of three chief justices of Balochistan, Sindh and Islamabad High Court, namely Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman, directed the secretary of the commission Raja Jawad Abbas to travel to London and receive documents, evidence and gadgets from Ijaz.
Lawyers in Islamabad will cross-examine him during the video conference.
"The commission has decided to record the statement of Ijaz through a video link on February 22," Ijaz's counsel Akram Sheikh had earlier said.
"It is an important development in this case. The court has accepted my request. We want the people to know what the truth is," he added. (ANI)
