New Delhi, Feb 8 (ANI): The Congress party on Wednesday described the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a corrupt and shameless political entity a day after three of its ministers in Karnataka were caught watching pornographic clips on a mobile phone while the state assembly was in session.

Women and Child Welfare Minister C C Patil, Co-operation Minister Lakshman Savadi and Minister for Ports, Science and Technology Krishna Palemar were captured on cameras of a local television news channel.

Reacting to the exposure, senior Congress leader B K Hariprasad said: "Whatever happened in Karnataka is not a big deal for them. Half dozen of former ministers in Karnataka are in jail, half dozen former ministers have police complaints against them and their former chief minister was released from jail recently. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka is a corrupt and shameless party."

Though the three ministers have since resigned voluntarily to save the reputation of the state ruling BJP.

Prasad, however, said that the mere resignation of the three ministers would not compensate for the incident. Instead, he said, the state government should resign.

"These ministers have committed a blasphemy by profaning the democratic temple, the House. This is nothing new as the Bharatiya Janata Party has made a joke out of the Vidhana Sabha. Therefore, only taking resignations from ministers will not solve the issue. If the party is at all shameful, the government should resign," he said.

Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said the BJP is involved in several corruption scandals and no longer sincere towards the public.

"They do not all the parliament to function and involve in immoral doings in the parliament. We do not want to accuse anyone personally, however, the party is involved in several kinds of corruptions," he added. (ANI)
